After more than 60 years of development, Shanghai Qingpu Waterworks Co., Ltd. has undergone multiple name changes and adjustments to its name and internal organizational structure. Among them, it was initially established as Qingpu Simple Water Plant in 1963, renamed Qingpu Chengxiang Town Waterworks since 1964, Qingpu County Waterworks since 1969, renamed Qingpu County Waterworks Company in February 1991, and officially renamed and restructured as Shanghai Qingpu Waterworks Co., Ltd. in April 1998.
Since its development, the company has successively belonged to the County Transportation Bureau (1963.2-1964.6), County Housing Management Office (1964.7-1977.10), County Transportation Construction Bureau (1977.11-1979.5), District Construction Committee (County Construction Bureau) (1979.6-2002.3), District Water Affairs Bureau (2002.4-2016.4), and Qingfa Group (2016.5-1977.5).
In 2007 and 2013, the company successively completed the takeover of water supply business in the central and western regions of Qingpu, achieving coverage of all streets and towns in the central and western regions of Qingpu except for Huaxin and Xujing, with a total water supply area of 590 square kilometers and serving a population of about 900000.
The company currently has one raw water plant (Taipu River Raw Water Plant), two water treatment plants (Qingpu Second Water Plant, Qingpu Third Water Plant), seven township water supply service stations, and 16 functional departments, with a total water supply capacity of 500000 tons/day. 1883 kilometers of various pipelines with a diameter of DN75 or above have been built, and the number of installed water meters has reached 327600, basically achieving a "1+2+15" service pattern (1 hotline, 2 comprehensive service windows, and 15 community service outlets).
As of May 2024, the company has 343 permanent employees and 128 outsourced workers.
In recent years, the company has won a number of major honors, such as "Municipal Civilized Unit", "Shanghai Health Promotion Enterprise", "Shanghai Harmonious Labor Relations Standard Enterprise", "Shanghai Water Affairs Marine System Four Star Civilized Window", "Advanced Collective of Small Diameter Water Supply Pipe Network Reconstruction Work", "exemplary organization of Municipal Counter Terrorism Prevention Emergency Work", "District Archives Three Star Standard Unit", "District Advanced Staff Home", "District Five type Female Staff Organization", and "District Harmonious Labor Relations Enterprise". The two major service brands, "Qingshui Hotline" and "Xiaoqiang Repair", have also been recognized as "Advanced Collectives of the National Construction System", "New Long March Assault Team", "Worker Pioneer", and "National Women's Civilization Post".
